Why bother?

A lot of people argue, why bother understanding the universe, the big bang(it is conceived that before the big bang, the universe was in a dense state known as a "singularity" held by 4 forces: gravity, electromagnetism, and the strong and weak nuclear forces- stephen hawkin)?
Why use so much money to build the Large Hadron Collider just to understand the states of the particles?

Some people use God as an answer to everything; in fact, this is mere ignorance. Surely we can believe that God create stuff but we should never use it as a statement of fact. The universe itself existed long before humans (lol), that is before we even started to believe in any god.

The existing knowledge and conception can never be the answer, the unknown, is the answer.

My answer(personal opinion) to that question is:
Imagine what will happen if we can understand how the universe was born, what caused the big bang. Once we find out the answer to the grand question, we can use it to manipulate the forces and the energy required to create the big bang. And with that ability to manipulate the forces, we can basically do whatever we want, from spawning another planet to preparing a coffee without the use of coffee beans and water
